Anthony Vitti's Forgotten Groove Yard #43
Miles Karlin joins me on his Fender bass. Miles is great up and coming bass player coming out of Berklee College. He's got a great sense of groove and you'll be hearing a lot more from him in the future.

    I installed the EMG J-Set in my Sire V7 fretless. I used the Fender 3-hole control plate (intended for the stacked-knob Jazz basses) so that I could still have the output jack on the edge of the instrument, and there is nothing unused. I had to plug the screw holes and make new ones for the Fender control plate since the screw pattern differs slightly from Sire's. I replaced the stock plastic output jack with the one provided by EMG because it is vastly more durable. I also wired it to 18volts using the stock battery box, so it has increased transient headroom, and will go further between battery changes. I had to do a bit of soldering, which I do not mind, in order to splice the battery box into the EMG system, and also I had to cut the EMG "solderless" cables that go from the pickups to the pots and power, then splice and solder them back together after routing them. The EMG connectors do not fit through the wiring holes in the Gen2 V7 body. Was it worth the time and labor? Since I am proficient at this sort of work, yes it was worth it. A nice way to spend a little time on an otherwise lazy Sunday afternoon. The bass still looks great, and it sounds better than ever!

    What a groove...I loooove it. I know that slap could be very aggressive and it's stunning listen to some crazy stuff, but this kind of comping is my favourite slap technique...right in the pocket and not easy like someone could think. I've bought your first volume of Funky fingerbook yesterday. Hope to have great fun improving my skills with your super professional teaching method. Hope the best for you. Greetings from Italy

    Hello, sorry about asking this, but are you shure that this bass is really 1969 (or body itself)? The pickups placement looks like 70's.

    • @JBass69
      @JBass69 5 місяців тому

      It was a custom order in 1969. It's stamped on the neck. It has a Mahogany body. The spacing is the same Post CBS after 1967. Same as early 70's.
